Deniz Ova, Istanbul Design Biennial Director, Jan Boelen, curator of the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial, and Vera Sacchetti, associate curator of the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial was at Dessau-Roßlau, Germany on 23 March 2019, attending the School Fundamental Festival, organised by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.

The festival, realised in honour of the 100th year of Bauhaus, questioned how a similar experiment would be like today. Within the scope of the festival program, Ova, Boelen, and Sacchetti gave a talk on the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial – A School of Schools, which examined the evolution of design education. The talk began with a performance by Vivien Tauchmann titled Textiles.
